Transferring from the wheelchair to the front seat inside the vehicle.
Transferring into the vehicle
Turny 6-Way makes it easy to transfer from the wheelchair to the front seat and vice versa. As the name suggests, the seat lift can move in 6 directions: up, down, forward, backward, as well as rotating from left to right. This means that you can bring the seat backwards, rotate it into the car and place it at the desired height.
Basically, you move the seat to an optimal position so that you can transfer to and from your wheelchair.
Once seated you will have the ability to use the seat controls to position yourself exactly as you wish. Turny 6-Way can be installed on the driver's side as well as on the passenger side.
Easy transfer to and from the wheelchair
Making a transfer between Turny 6-Way and your wheelchair will most likely be the easiest transfer you will ever make. Use the Turny 6-Way to move the seat to the best position from where you can transfer. Then adjust the height so that the transfer is slightly lowered. The transfer downwards requires less muscle strength and is therefore much easier to perform.
You will have the same advantage of downward transfer when transferring from the seat to the wheelchair by simply raising Turny 6-Way above the seat height of your wheelchair.
Passenger or driver?
Turny 6-Way works just as well on the driver's side as on the passenger side. Some of our customers even have it installed in both positions. This gives them the ability to share their car without risking a difficult or even impossible transfer to the other seat.
Share your car
The Turny 6-Way does not impede the functionality of the car in any way. In other words, it is possible to share your car with someone who does not use the wheelchair transfer feature.
Find your perfect position
It is easy to fine-tune your seat position with Turny 6-Way. Simply press the corresponding 2-Way switch to move your seat forward or backward. Your seat height is controlled in the same way, simply press the switch to raise or lower your position. Once you've found your perfect point, you can travel comfortably along the journey or adjust it when necessary.
Choose the car you want
Naturally, doing the transfer inside requires a bit of space. In most cases, this means a minivan-size vehicle. The space available for your head is also a factor to consider. You want to be able to make the transfer without banging your head on the roof.
Getting in
To get into the vehicle, the Turny 6-Way is usually installed in combination with a wheelchair platform or a ramp. Both come in various sizes and shapes, so we suggest you make sure you choose one that suits your vehicle and your needs. Check out our range of wheelchair platforms and wheelchair ramps.
Stay protected
Transferring inside the vehicle has its benefits. You and your wheelchair are protected from the natural elements, traffic and other situations that may cause stress. Another advantage of an in-car transfer is that your wheelchair stays with you. Just make sure you secure it properly before you transfer.
Be part of the journey
This is the solution that puts you in the front seat. Where you can look and feel like everyone else. It's the solution that lets you experience the scenery outside through your windscreen. That lets you tune in to your favourite song on the radio. That lets you have a conversation with the person next to you, whether driver or passenger.
Maintain original seat functions
If your car's original seat has electrical functions, these can be used with the Turny 6-Way. This means you can retain features such as the heated seat.
No permanent modifications
As with all Turny products, the installation is completely reversible. In most cases, it requires no permanent modification to the vehicle. In other words, it will not affect the resale value of your vehicle. You can even take it with you to your next car.
